Pride of Barbados Seedpod

Okay so it is a curvy line!  A line of Pride of Barbados seedpods are ready to drop their final young in a last ditch attempt to propagate themselves for next year. Like dug-out canoes, these seedpods are providing a safe harbor for these precious, year-end cradled seeds.

Dug-out canoes indeed! You are so clever, Philip. And another great photo for the contest.

  • TexasDeb November 6, 2009, 6:45 am

I’ll add a second to Pam’s notion of your cleverness. Curvy lines have been appreciated for eons by all sorts of beholders. Nicely done.

  • Jenny November 6, 2009, 7:14 am

Perfect ESP. This sounds like a tough assignment. Good luck with the photo.

    Hi Pam.
I think the Naboo use them for crossing the “Big Sea” (mouth-clicks translated as) …my stock-tank. Thanks.

    TD.
Glad you like it TD. The shapes on these seedpods are crazy, their color like aged leather.

    Jenny.
I struggled with this one…I have no straight lines in the Patch! :-) I look forward to yours, and ty.

What a great concept! They’re bound to love this one.

    • ESP November 6, 2009, 8:55 pm

Hi Linda, and thank you, for everything.
I will send you the stills over the weekend, did you like the music?
It was great to get to know you better!

If you have time for pictures and posting about it then you have time to finish the story. I don’t think you realise the seriousness of the situation here. I would suggest you start wearing elbow and knee pads so you don’t skin them when you go down. Click……click click click…..nick click…. nick nick….thud.

Oh, and by the way, that is a great picture. Having the curve just makes it.

  • ESP November 6, 2009, 11:02 pm

    Hi Bob.
Just because you are the new “Bob God” linguist to the infamous Naboo, I implore you to not get too comfortable with your new title and tribal responsibilities. Remember when I said the Naboo are fickle? Well trust me they are. A wrong “nick click” in the wrong place WILL get you into a host of life-threatening poison-darted posterior trouble, trust me I know the tribe well. I feel the need to warn you about this Bob, as I do not want to lose you as an active contributor to the Patch’s commenting section after-all!

Glad you like the seed-pod image Bob, hope you are around to comment on my follow-up posting.

You have a great blog and I enjoyed visiting! Great entry for the photo contest.

    • ESP November 8, 2009, 11:54 am

Thanks Amy, glad you enjoyed your time in here, and thanks.

Oh, I love the curved line. That occurred to me right away too. And the last seeds dropping — I love the idea that at the end there is also the beginning of the next cycle.

    Great photography, too.

    Hi.
Happy you like the curvy pride of Barbados seedpod. It is like the pods hold onto the seeds for as long as possible, eventually cracking, releasing the young. I can relate to this on so many levels! :-)

What a beautiful photo! You sure set the bar high for the contest this month! Best of luck.

  • ESP November 9, 2009, 9:01 am

    Hi Susie.
Thanks, it was between this shot and one of an old post-oak leaf, this one had a little more going on!
Thanks for dropping into the ESP.

The seedpod reminds me of those 70s chairs that hung on a hook. And who said lines had to be straight?

Very nice photo! definitely says end of the line to me.

    Thank you Teresa.
Great to meet you, hope you will pop into the patch again and contribute to the insanity.

I love the photo and the interpretation, straight or curvy! Looks like the end of the line. Or is it the beginning??

  • ESP November 12, 2009, 2:47 pm

Thanks Jean, glad you liked it.

    Hi TM.
As soon as the shutter went off, the “young” started screaming. I beat as hasty retreat!
